Sustainable/ affordable building for Northland

Northland is not like Europe, North America or Asia. The climate is different, the people have different housing requirements. Yet, we still build in an American style one-off housing style in Northland.
Should we consider designing and building houses which meet our socio-economic and climatic environment?
Should we look at evaluating different types of building methods like

Should we consider different building principles more suited to our Northland environment

  • Passive Housing
  • Using local materials
  • Utilizing local talent
We plan  to run a competition for sustainable building design and built SB-Prize in Northland in 2019.
In November 2016 we were fortunate to host Wolfgang Kessling from Transsolar.
