Northland Sustainability Day

NIC and NorthTec plan to organise a Northland Sustainability Day in 2018. The objective is to generate wider awareness for sustainability and share best practices how each of us can make an impact.

Transport

Air travel generates a lot of carbon dioxide & other greenhouse gases. To offset this, it is suggested to plant trees. In his excellent post, Peter Bruce, Researcher & Tutor at Northtec, describes this in detail. See Peter’s One billion trees post.

Sustainability topic to cover on the day:

  • Transport
  • Food
  • Waste: reduction, avoidance, recycling, waste-to-value

We will invite representatives of employers from local government (Northland District Health Board, Councils), businesses (Carter Holt LVL, Culham Engineering, Donavan Engineering, GBC, Winstone, McKay Electrical, Refinery…) and schools. All will be invited to plant trees with us and share their sustainability actions & plans with each other.

The idea is to inspire each other and work jointly towards the vision to make Northland, the most sustainable region in the Southern Hemisphere by 2025.

We cannot do it alone, but together as passionate, action oriented Northlanders – we can do it.

Let’s just do it!!!

If you like to participate, assist organising the day and/or make suggestions, please contact us.
